Hi Roel

I've just ventured into the unknown with my first sidebar and obviously my limited knowledge is letting me down.

To try to keep it simple I added the code into an area of this page and did not include any of the options but just had the "include.." line present.  Needless to say it doesn't show at all.

I must confess to having some difficulty with the instructions which clearly show adding the following

<?php $sbClass = {sidebar class}; * $sbContent = {sidebar content}; * $sbHeader = {sidebar title}; * $sbCatsIn = {list of categories to include}; * $sbCatsEx = {list of categories to exclude}; * $sbUsersIn = {list of users to include}; * $sbUsersEx = {list of users to exclude}; * $sbMaxNbr = {max. number of events to show}; * $sbUpDays = {max. number of days to show}; * $sbCal = {calendar ID}; * include './mycalendarfolder/lcsbar.php'; ?>

so I figured the just adding:

<?php
   include 'http://www.bedstoneandbucknell.org/luxcal/lcsbar.php';
    ?>
would give me something.

Anyway, the page it's on (or rather not on) is:

http://www.bedstoneandbucknell.org/index_test2.html

Further to the above I suspect that there's an issue with me running my files as html and not php.  Perhaps this is a step too far for my small brain sad

Can you give me a steer please?

Thanks as always

Hi Graham,
You're close wink
Change the added code
<?php
   include 'http://www.bedstoneandbucknell.org/luxcal/lcsbar.php';
?>

into
<?php
   include './luxcal/lcsbar.php';
?>

and rename your webpage index_test2.html into index_test2.php

When you've done this, the side bar should be showing somewhere on your page in some form.
Now you can edit the style "sidebar" in the file luxcal/css/css_sbar.php to customise the position and size of the sidebar.
Thereafter, if you want, you can edit the first part of the same luxcal/css/css_sbar.php file to customise the colors and fonts of the sidebar.

Let me know if it doesn't work, and I will help you make it work.
And remember: "Small brains can do great wonders".

Hi Roel

I am for ever in your debt.  I thought I had tried that combination but obviously not.  The sidebar now does appear and now I can get on with customising it.  Thank you SO much (again) - brain is tarting to feel better! biggrin
